Christmas Break and what a season so far..

We came out of November with a great Cup gold and as a group it was time to pick up the harder and heavier physical training to get everyone in shape for January where we need to peak once again.
We had a nerve-racking derby against Örebro early December which never became a pretty affair but we fought hard and the girls really showed the right mentality when it was needed and we pulled off a 3-1 win on their home court.
After that we could finish off with 3 home matches against Falköping, Svedala and Sollentuna. The first 2 gave us a fast 3-0 win in both cases, and it left us on 4th place in the standings before the last match against Sollentuna.
To stay in 4th place we needed to win against Sollentuna and if things worked out the way we wanted we could finish in 2nd place before Christmas break. On gameday all the girls were 100% fit and ready to go and we went on court taking home a solid 3-0 win after trailing with 4 points in both 1st and 2nd set, but once again we proved to be the resilient team we aim to be and we kept the leagues top scorer to 5 kills.

The wins in December gave us qualification to Grand Prix in January and with other results going our way we end up in 2nd place which means we will play Sollentuna in the Semifinal of the Grand Prix on Wednesday the 5th of January.

As a team we are where we want to be looking at results. We have been able to do what it took to win when we needed to, and even though it can’t always be as pretty as we would like, in a long season you need to appreciate a win whenever you get them and the goal is to always be part of the fun matches.. matches where we get a chance to play for medals.. matches that require us to perform our best if we want to win.. matches which are the reason we practice to hard every day.. And so far we have been part of all of those matches available.

Christmas break is upon us and I wish everyone happy holidays. We start practice again on the 28th and then go on until Grand Prix, but first it is time to enjoy quality hours with family and friends..;0)

Merry Christmas

Michael
